WWILD Groups

WWILD Women's Group

WWILD supports an ongoing Women’s Group in Wooloowin, which meets once a week.

The goal of this group is to provide a safe space for women who have experienced violence or abuse to meet new people, practice social skills, learn and teach new skills and knowledge, improve self-esteem, and have opportunities for success and being valued.

The group members make decisions on what they want to do, but generally there is a cooking group, a craft group, a pamper group and a discussion group once per month. We also attend and contribute to special events such as Reclaim the Night (see Latest News).

More information about the group is available here, or call us for referrals.

You and Me Group

WWILD periodically runs time-limited relationship and sex education groups in collaboration with community organizations. These groups run for 10-12 weeks, and are focused on building understanding and skills in relationships, which we believe is an important factor in preventing sexual assault. These groups run at the pace and to the needs of the individual group of people involved.

Unfortunately due to limited capacity we only run a few of these groups a year, but we encourage organizations to get in touch if they are interested in running one of these groups.

We prioritize organizations that are willing to play an active role in supporting their staff and clients’ families to improve their understanding and knowledge around supporting people with intellectual disabilities to have fulfilling, safe relationships.

WWILD Sexual Violence Prevention Program is funded by the Department of Communities, QLD. & the WWILD Victims of Crime Disability Training Program is funded by the Department of Justice and Attorney-General, QLD
