Date Claimer: Australian Society for Intellectual Disability (ASID) One day Conference:

What’s Working Well, What’s Not, and What’s Next in the Lives of People with Intellectual Disability

Date: Monday 23rd September 2024

Time: 9am (8:30am for registration) – 5pm

Venue:   The University of Queensland, Modwest Building (11A), St Lucia Campus, Brisbane

Background:

People with intellectual disability continue to experience violence, discrimination and exclusion, yet they seek to craft new realities which embody inclusivity, acceptance and respect. The Australasian Society for Intellectual Disability (ASID) supports people with intellectual disability in their
quest for better lives through the promotion of research which sheds light on people’s experiences, struggles and achievements.

This one-day conference is hosted by the Queensland Division of ASID. It will include keynotes, individual presentations and parallel sessions, providing an opportunity for people with intellectual disability and supporters to connect and exchange views on three important questions:

  • What is working well?
  • What is not working?
  • What’s next?
