Australia Society for Intellectual Disability (Queensland division) presents:
People with Intellectual Disability experience violence and trauma through stigma, social exclusion, social and economic disadvantages, structural and systems inequality structural and poor individual workers’ practice.
In this symposium, our speakers will be talking about:
- trauma experiences for people with intellectual disability focusing on context with research evidence and case examples

how individual practitioners can support people with intellectual disability who have experienced trauma.

and an example of a project within the Department of Justice which is aiming to improve systems support of people recovering from trauma.
