Child Safety and Wellbeing Policy Review
WWILD has completed a review of its Child Safety and Wellbeing Policy and developed two new supporting resources: the Guidelines for Supervision of Children and Young People at WWILD and the Guide to Identifying and Managing Online Risks.
Key updates to the policy include:

Introduction of a National Police Checks policy and procedure for staff.
- Improving content by referring staff to authoritative resources on indicators and signs of abuse, rather than reproducing extensive guidance within the policy.

Recognition of online abuse and exploitation as a standalone form of harm.

Improved structure and headings to make documentation and reporting procedures clearer and easier to follow.
- A dedicated section outlining Failure to Report obligations.
- A new section addressing Reportable Conduct Scheme obligations, reflecting legislative changes commencing in Queensland from July 2026.

The new supervision and online safety resources provide practical guidance to help staff, volunteers and stakeholders supporting the safety and wellbeing of children and young people in both physical and online WWILD environments.
