It can be difficult to know if someone is presenting at your service may have an intellectual or learning disability.
Some people do not feel comfortable sharing that as they may have had bad experiences of discrimination in the past and have a strong sense of stigma around their disability.
Everyone who has a disability are different and it may look different for each person, so the tips in this document are only meant to be used as a guide.
This tip sheet aims to help you to observe and gently ask the right questions, so you can do the best by that person. Please remember its only a guide.
