Coming Soon- Workshop at WWILD: Trauma Counselling for Supporting People with Intellectual Disabilities
WWILD provides trauma counselling to people with intellectual disabilities who have experienced sexual, domestic and family violence and other types of abuse and exploitation. WWILD’s counsellors and caseworkers work with people around emotional regulation, trauma processing, safety planning, relationships and long term recovery. WWILD provides regular training to services on request and is making this workshop available to a wider audience. Participants can expect an overview of:
- Working with people with intellectual disabilities
- Appropriate communication
- Understanding of trauma impacts for people with disabilities
- Evidenced based therapeutic activities that support emotional regulation, trauma processing and recovery.
Participants can expect to practice some of these activities as well. Lunch will be provided.
