Module 8: Putting it all into practice

This module focuses on what knowledge and skills support workers and organisations need to ensure they are meeting the needs of people who have a disability after an experience of domestic, family and/or sexual violence.

Module 6: Responding to domestic, family and sexual violence

This module focuses on how to support people who have a disability, after they share an experience of domestic, family and/or sexual violence. Including what to say, what to do and how to ensure the person with a disability remains in control as much as possible.

Module 5: Recognising domestic, family and sexual violence

This module focuses on recognising domestic, family, and sexual violence in the lives of people who have a disability and shares tips around how to approach a discussion with someone you are working with, if you are concerned that they might be experiencing violence.

Module 4: Sexual Violence

This module focuses on defining sexual violence and affirmative consent in the ACT. The facilitators also discuss the significant role support workers play in the lives of people who have a disability, when role modelling and sharing information about consent.

Module 3: Domestic and Family Violence

This module focuses on defining domestic and family violence in the ACT; discusses the different types of domestic and family violence experienced by people with a disability and shares why people with disability experience violence differently, then those without a disability.

Module 1: Disability Experiences

This module focuses on the different models of disability and how they affect the way people with a disability are viewed and treated. Facilitators discuss the importance of using an intersectional lense and outline why all workers need to ensure they are working in a culturally safe way, when working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who have a disability.
